2009-2011 Jennifer Branch Preservation Project

Community Leadership Award Requirements

 

1. Took some action to preserve Jennifer Branch (helped to promote JBPP project; hosted JBPP event; volunteered to assist at JBPP event; adopted and cleaned Jennifer Branch or tributary; implemented green solution in own yard-(rain barrel, disconnect downspout, rain garden, permaculture garden, planted trees, baywise actions)

 

1. Became an example to their community (allowed community workshop in yard; demonstrated own green solution for others to see;  spread the word about JBPP/GVC green solutions to others)   ________________________________________________________________________

   • Attended Kick off event Feb. 20^th, 2010
   • Hosted June 12^th, 2010 Greening Block Party
   • Installed Rain Garden while allowing rain garden workshop
   • Installed rain barrel while allowing rain barrel workshop
   • Provided food and drinks for neighborhood participants
   • Became Baywise certified
   • Willing to be ongoing demonstration site as example to community
   • Became GVC member

 

1. Steve Hobbs  (2821 Erie Ave., Carney, MD 21234; 410-256-5004)
   • Attended Greening Block Party
   • Disconnected 3 downspouts
   • Installed 1 rain barrel
   • Installed rain garden while allowing rain garden workshop
   • Provided food and drinks for participants
   • Became Baywise certified
   • Willing to be ongoing demonstration site as example to community
   • Became GVC member

 

1. Jim and Nancy Murray  (2705 Placid Ave., Carney, MD 21234; 410-668-2673)
   • Attended Kick off event Feb. 20^th, 2010
   • Installed 1 rain barrel in addition to 5 prior
   • Attended Greening Block Party
   • Installed 1 permaculture garden while allowing PC workshop
   • Willing to be a green solution demonstration site
   • Installed a rain garden on own prior to PC workshop
   • Provided food and drinks for participants
   • Jim advertised the workshop with Patty’s flyer, they paid for 50 flyers and hand delivered in neighborhood on their own
   • Baywise certified March 19, 2010
