GVC and Jennifer Branch Volunteers conducted two upland assessments on 724 acres within 2.21 square miles of the Jennifer Branch Watershed in order to determine what storm water controls could be implemented.

8,487 Jennifer Branch residents were educated on the negative effects of pol-luted storm water runoff and on green solutions, “how to beautify your yard while preserving Jennifer Branch and ultimately the Chesapeake Bay all at the same time” through our first FACT-SHEET mailed in January 2010.

GVC held a community Kick-Off Event on February 20, 2010 for fifty residents.

GVC conducted multiple yard assessments for private land owners on what was the best green solution for their yard.

Ten community “green solution” workshops were held including, Rain Barrels, Rain Gardens, Stream Watch Trainings, and Edible Landscapes Workshops.

GVC and The Phelps held a Community Greening Block Party on June 12, 2010.

Twenty-one households in the Jennifer Branch Watershed implemented green solutions in their yard.

Nineteen Rain Barrels were distributed and thirteen were installed by GVC.

Eighteen Downspout Disconnects were completed.
-
One Edible Landscape was installed.

Five yards certified as Baywise landscapes.

Seven Jennifer Branch or tributary stream reaches were adopted totaling 1.75 miles by fourteen volunteers.

Four Jennifer Branch stream reaches (a total of one mile) were cleaned up by ten volunteers.

525 lbs. of trash were removed from Jennifer Branch and its tributaries.
Jennifer Branch Preservation Project kicks off

"Residents of Carney, Cub Hill and Parkville crowded into the meeting room of Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Carney on Saturday, Feb. 20 to show their support in kicking off the Jennifer Branch Preservation Project. The two year environmental education project will focus on the effects of storm water on the Jennifer Branch watershed and promoting ways residents can improve the water quality of Jennifer Branch.
